This week saw the end of a significant chapter in my writing journey with the long awaited publication of my co-authored novel ‘Sylvia’s Seven’. The novel has been around 12 years in the making, and I have discussed the process and history of it in previous blogs. For those new to this site, the novelContinue reading “Oct 2026 – End Of A Chapter, Start Of A New One…”

Jul 2026 – Bloody Recognition and 1001 Songs to Albums
I was at the dentist this week, which is never the most pleasant of experiences for anyone I am sure, thought I did have a very interesting conversation as I was waiting for my treatment to begin. I’ve been going to the same dentist for around 20 years now and I’ve never discussed my creativeContinue reading “Jul 2026 – Bloody Recognition and 1001 Songs to Albums”
Jun 2026 – Awarding-Winning Crime Writer and a Charity Book Release
It’s been a busy month for me, with another book launch and receiving perhaps the most exciting news in my crime-writing journey to date. My charity book was launched earlier this month, which contains a crime novella set at Firhill Stadium in Glasgow, home to Partick Thistle Football Club. I wrote the novella a coupleContinue reading “Jun 2026 – Awarding-Winning Crime Writer and a Charity Book Release”
Feb 2026 – For The Love of the Short Format
I’ve often spoken of my love for short stories, both writing and reading them. As I have continued on my writing journey, I’ve discovered a love for writing novellas and short books also. It is a love of these formats that have shaped the start of my year. As discussed in my last blog, IContinue reading “Feb 2026 – For The Love of the Short Format”
Nov 2025 – One, Two, Miss a Few and DI Christie Book 5 Update.
Well my plan of monthly blogs has, somewhat, gone out the window over the last few months so I will need to think of some things to share in the coming couple of months to catch up. Sometimes, an idea for a blog just comes to me and other times I just can’t think forContinue reading “Nov 2025 – One, Two, Miss a Few and DI Christie Book 5 Update.”
Mar 2025 – Books of My Years
For my latest blog, I decided to take some inspiration from a radio show/podcast called ‘Tracks of My Years’ and take a bookish spin on it. The below list is not of my favourite books of all time (although some may fit into that category), but more the books that shaped me throughout my lifeContinue reading “Mar 2025 – Books of My Years”
Book Blog 4 of 4 – Lightning Bolt
Well, this blog brings us to the fourth and final weekly update regarding the books that I have published thus far. Lightning Bolt is the third in the current DI Jo Christie series and it was good to get back to these characters after a few years away working on other stories and a coupleContinue reading “Book Blog 4 of 4 – Lightning Bolt”
Book Blog 3 of 4 – Five Against One
Following the release of ‘Christie’s Early Cases’ (see previous blog), I now had my main characters written and developing nicely to attempt a full novel. Most of the feedback I had received from the first book was very positive, but as often the case with short stories, the readers wanted more (e.g. a novel). IContinue reading “Book Blog 3 of 4 – Five Against One”
Book Blog 1 of 4 – Alive
So, the plan is to write four blogs in February to tell you a bit about the creation of the four novels that I have written thus far. I have written about some of this before, but I’ll try and add some new interesting titbits if I can along the way. We start at theContinue reading “Book Blog 1 of 4 – Alive”
2024 Plans Blog – 1st of Many?
I posted a blog previously of my big plans for 2023 and needless to say failed in many of the categories. Sometimes as an upcoming, independent writer (with a full time job and family commitments) the best laid plans don’t always come off. This hasn’t detracted me from setting goals for this year, and weContinue reading “2024 Plans Blog – 1st of Many?”
